Overview
Thornton Engineering fabricated the Rosanna rail bridge crossing for Lower Plenty Road. The 177 tonne steel bridge, part of Victoria’s Level Crossing Removal Project, incorporated two 63 tonne steel beams constructed of heavy plate steel up to 70mm thick. Our scope of work included:
- Detailed design
- Material supply
- Fabrication of two I-girders 33m+ long, two cross-beam girders, stiffeners, walkway supports, shear studs,
- Non-destructive testing (NDT)
- Surface treatment
- Transportation to site
